…and do they mean 'loose', or do they mean 'lose'?

…and if you hang around photography resources as much as I do: What is this new non-word I've never yet seen before, that people keep talking about putting on their camera - a 'lense' - it's not even a word!

Just rediculous, just rediculous.

The 'non-errors' page is interesting, too.

I've found some funny misspellings on e-Bay, in the clothing offerings. Just what is a beaded dress covered in "sequence"? Or a "cow" neckline.

Or a "cow" neckline.
One that shows off the udders.

Now what about all those cars fitted with "breaks"? Is that to help the driver to stay dangerously awake?

It amazes me that people ever manage to sell anything mis-spelled on ebay - how are you supposed to search for it? I'm used to searching for all kinds of mis-spellings of Rolleiflex, Rolleicord etc. and even looking in the vintage cameras area under 'box cameras' - hah! A typical Rolleiflex is a well-engineered twin-lens reflex and fetches a very handsome bounty, a typical box camera is a completely different item, and is usually just junk, but it's amusing to see the Rollei described as such. Nevertheless, there's some fundamental illiteracy going on.

I think it's partly laziness, too. I know my daughters rarely bother to check spelling and grammar when emailing, and sprinkle their internet posts with l33t, txt and emoticons. But the schoolwork I've seen is well composed and lucid.

Use of l33t, txt & emoticons should be flogging offences. Bring back the lash, and stocks.
